ALASKA FISHERMEN SERVICES is owned and operated by Bruce R. Jenkinson of Aberdeen, WA.
Bruce received a Master’s Degree from Humboldt State University in 1977 with a specialty in Biology.
Bruce first visited Alaska in 1977 and 1978 when he served as a NMFS Observer aboard foreign factory trawlers in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands. In the early 80’s he served as Operations Manager for Marine Resources Company, at that time the largest coordinator of American trawl fishing activities in the North Pacific.
He has lived and served overseas on commercial fisheries related assignments, first to the former Soviet Union in the early 80’s and later, while affiliated with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to the Sultanate of Oman in the Middle East.
Over the years, Bruce has been involved in commercial fishing related activities including longlining, crabbing and gillnetting. In 1996, he commenced a new career as Broker of commercial fishing rights with IFQ Brokers, Inc., a company he later acquired and ‘rolled’ into Alaska Fishermen Services
At the present time, Bruce is fully involved in commercial fishing brokerage activities of all types. In the Summer months, when most other fishermen are ‘at sea’, he enjoys fishing his personal halibut quotas in the Western Aleutians.
Alaska Fishermen Services welcomes contacts with commercial fishermen and others from the fishing industry regardless of region or country. Whether for the sale of a factory longliner or just a ‘cup of coffee’, please contact us at any time.
